Cathedral Oaks Worship and Retreat Center (COWRC):

Located in Weimar, Texas, Cathedral Oaks Worship and Retreat Center is a 102-acre is an ecumenical retreat center committed to providing an accessible and affordable venue for spiritual retreats, prayer gatherings, meetings and other Church-related activities. A special dimension of COWRC is the commitment to be ecumenical and thus welcoming and inclusive of all Christian denominations and communities. Most retreat activity takes place on the weekends.

Position Summary:

The Retreat Center Director serves as the CEO and operational lead for the management of COWRC. The responsibilities in this role are wide-ranging from serving as the public face of COWRC, to marketing, operation management, client support, data and record keeping, and hosting retreatants and visitors. Having limited additional staff, the Retreat Center Director must be a highly relational individual who is willing to create volunteer opportunities to support the mission and work of COWRC.

The Retreat Center Director lives on site in a 3-bedroom 2,400 sq ft home. The home is provided at no rent. In addition, all taxes, home insurance, and utilities expenses are paid by COWRC. While the Director is to come and go as needed, they do need to remain on-site whenever guests are present.

Position Responsibilities:

Specifically, the Retreat Center Director will:
Manage the booking and registration process for retreats and retreatants;
Serve as the agent for COWRC negotiating and signing contracts with retreat groups and others booking the property for weekend or weekday use;
Lead the marketing efforts for online, print and in-person marketing opportunities including building relationships with the retreat leaders, ministers and other involved in the property use;
Lead the fundraising including the identification, cultivation and solicitation of Partners in Mission sustaining gifts and/or capital or major gifts in support of COWRC and it facilities;
Work with the Board to establish the operating budget and annual targets regarding the frequency, size and revenue generated by retreats and other activities;
Manage DonorPerfect, the donor and Partners in Mission database and records;
Write funding proposals, supporting documentation and other fund-raising correspondence;
Manage the pledge/gift receiving, receipting, acknowledgment and donor recognition processes;
Manage the online communications development, placement and response;
Manage facility and campus maintenance, upkeep and repair orders;
Secure and supervise part-time paid staff or volunteers to handle building maintenance, repair and cleaning;
Secure and supervise part-time paid staff or volunteers to handle campus mowing and care;
Support, schedule, and attend Board meetings with the exception of any executive session called by the Chairperson of the Board.

Key Selection Criteria:

The Retreat Center Director will possess:
The ability to work with and motivate a broad spectrum of people ranging from Board members to ministers, retreat leaders and retreatants;
A knowledge of retreat and event management from bookings and registrations through meal service to grounds maintenance;
A proficiency or willingness to be trained in fundraising and the fearlessness needed to lead individual and other solicitations;
Experience in and a commitment to Christian discipleship, Church membership and ministry; and
Digital competence regarding use of online platforms, social media, graphic software, CRM, spreadsheets and the like.

The ideal candidate will have the following experience and characteristics:
Experience in ministry or active Church-volunteerism
Event management or event planning experience
Excellent verbal, visual and written communication skills
Well-organized, systematic thinker
Disciplined, strong work ethic
B.A., B.S. or equivalent degree
An ecumenical spirituality and hospitality toward all Christian Churches and denominations
Commitment to the mission and values of Cathedral Oaks Worship and Retreat Center

Compensation:
The cash compensation is $3,750/ month ($45,000/year) with a performance and salary review in 120 days.
The compensation package includes the imputed value of the rent-free housing and paid features estimated at $3,500/month ($42,000/year).
This combined compensation is valued at $87,000/year.
