Head Camp Nurse
Under the direction of the Executive Director and consistent with the Christian Mission of the YMCA, Head Camp Nurse is responsible for participating in the daily operations of the Health Center, assisting the Head Nurse and cooperating with overall coordination of the health of the camp community.
Working with the Camp Director, have input for selection process of all new hire nurses Develop summer schedule for nurses Conduct periodic inventories of al supplies and order necessary items Conduct an orientation for staff during staff week and for nurses during staff week Maintain quality relationships with local doctors, clinics and hospitals Maintain an up to date inventory of all items in the Health Center Submit at the conclusion of the summer season to the Resident Camp Director: inventory of equipment and supplies; recommendations for the following year; medical charges for campers and staff Supervise and Evaluate the Health Center Nurses Maintain good communication with Branch Administrator about camper and staff charges, insurance and workman compensation issues Report all maintenance needs of Health Center to Executive Director and maintenance staff Post necessary emergency procedures in the Health Center Hold brief staff meetings with all nurses (on duty) on opening days File all insurance claims Assure that communication with parents occurs whenever necessary regarding a camper’s medication or illness. Any overnight stay in the Health Center will warrant a phone call to parents within 24 hours. Assist in the pre-camp Health Center set up Assume responsibility for coordination of end-of summer Health Center close down Perform daily visual observation of all Health Center operations Perform weekly visual inspection of all Health Center equipment
Requirements:
Minimum of a College Graduate Current RN License in North Carolina Current Certification in First Aid & CRP-PR
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Lifting (50lbs – occasionally) Sitting Hearing Carrying (50lbs – occasionally) Pulling Seeing
EFFECT ON END RESULTS:
Through effective coordination, the Head Nurse will contribute to the health and well being of campers who attend camp.
