Program Director
Loucon’s Program Director is the point person for camper experience. The successful candidate will manage 35 seasonal staffers, work closely with volunteer counselors, and oversee adventure elements, including high ropes, rappel, climbing, zipline, waterfront, and more. This role requires strong management and communication skills, as well as the ability to work with a team in pursuit of Loucon’s efforts to be God-centered, neighbor-driven, and growth-focused. The Program Director must demonstrate strong attention to detail and the ability to understand and implement organizational policies. Loucon is a ministry of the United Methodist Church. Key Responsibilities: * Foster a culture of Christian discipleship through word and action, exhibiting personal and professional integrity * Develop and implement a comprehensive program and schedule for Loucon-led camps and retreats. * Collaborate with staff to ensure programs meet the needs and interests of diverse camper and retreat populations. * A full job description is available upon request.
Qualifications: * Thorough understanding of Christian discipleship in the United Methodist tradition. * Minimum of 3 years of experience in program management, preferably in a camp or outdoor education setting. * Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire staff and campers. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with individuals of all ages and backgrounds. * Knowledge of outdoor and recreational activities, environmental education principles, and risk management practices. * Ability to perform physical demands of job, including frequent walking, lifting up to 75 lbs, and working at heights of 30’ or more. * Lifeguard, CPR, and First Aid certification or the ability to obtain (Wilderness First Responder and Swift Water Rescue certifications preferred). * Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
