Assistant Cook

Position Description: Assistant Cook/ Manager
Reports to: Food and Beverage Director

Start Date: October 1, 2023

Job Summary
The position involves learning to assist in the preparation and cooking of meals under the guidance of the Food and Beverage Director. The role also entails maintaining food safety and sanitation standards in the preparation and kitchen areas.
Key Responsibilities
• Learn to read the menu to estimate food requirements based on group size.
• Lead in the preparation and execution of meals in accordance with company production records and standardized recipes.
• Properly use and maintain all kitchen equipment including ovens, grill, steamer, dishwasher, etc.
• Help measure, mix, and prepare ingredients according to recipes using a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment.
• Responsible for leading a team of kitchen staff for a full execution of a meal.
• Follow Serv Safe principles of sanitation and safety in handling food and equipment.
• Interact with guests and coworkers in a courteous, efficient, and friendly manner.
• Responsible for the execution of set up for all group needs.
• Responsible for the cleanliness and presentation of the cafeteria.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Specific Qualifications
At least 2 years of experience in a commercial kitchen. Leadership and management experience is preferred.

Physical Demands,
• Must occasionally lift and/or move 25 pounds and be able to stand for extended periods of time.
• Often involves long work hours. Flexibility in working schedule required to meet the needs of the camp’s operations and guests.
