COMMUNITY The makeup of our community determines a large part of what it is like to live and work here. We have about 120 people who live on-site year-round: full-time staff/families, seasonal staff, and gap year students. Glorieta is a beautiful place with many natural resources but calls for a somewhat remote living.
JOB DESCRIPTION Title: Maintenance Manager Department: Operations Reports To: Director of Operations
Job Purpose: This is a full-time position with the responsibility to oversee the safety and maintenance of camp properties. Duties of the Maintenance Manager will include directing the maintenance team, implementing policies and safety procedures, preparing budgets and monitoring expenditures, engaging with vendors and contractors, ensuring compliance with legal standards, and training and developing staff. Your team should exceed guest expectations of the overall appearance and ambiance of camp and create a distraction-free environment for our mission to be played out.
Overall Responsibility and Duties: Manage, train, and supervise maintenance personnel in the following areas: Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry, Painting, Locks, Boilers, HVAC, etc… Uphold workplace safety rules, regulations, policies, and Federal, State, and local codes Maintain CMMS (Monday.com) to help prioritize, track, and delegate tasks through online work orders and seasonal work needs Maintain a working relationship with vendors, inspectors, and contractor Work closely with other departments to ensure camp property meets the needs of guests and staff Identify, plan, and monitor strategic direction and budgets for general maintenance, department projects, and deferred maintenance requests Proactively monitor the condition of Glorieta 2.0 buildings and take corrective actions when necessary Develop and maintain preventative maintenance schedules Maintain a computerized inventory for facilities, supplies, and materials Develop an understanding of the unique buildings and the knowledge to keep them functioning Maintain an on-call schedule to ensure emergencies can be handled in a timely manner
Other Duties of ALL Glorieta Staff: We operate year-round. We have guests on the premises almost every day of the year. Serving guests is our number one priority, and therefore all staff must participate in guest service in some capacity. Tasks may include cooking, cleaning, facilitating group activities, running retail locations, general maintenance of camp property, and work projects as needed. There are often groups here on weekends, and all staff members will be required to work certain weekends as needed.
Character, Education, Abilities, Skills, Experience: The ideal candidate will have: A vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ Experience in a maintenance role including but not limited to plumbing, electrical, propane, and HVAC Maintenance certifications (Journeyman or other) Experience in management Proficiency in or ability to learn Monday.com, Google Workplace, Google Drive, and Gmail Ability to plan, manage, and report budgets proficiently Ability to effectively lead staff in areas such as: selection, development, coaching, motivation, scheduling, and performance evaluation Excellent organization skills Ability to communicate clearly and efficiently Ability to work long hours frequently and subject to seasonal workload increases Ability to manage a variety of projects and teams simultaneously Willingness to perform routine tasks regularly and on time, with deadlines weekly and monthly for most tasks.
Work Context: This job will be performed primarily on location at the Glorieta, New Mexico location. Travel: Minimal travel will be required for this job. Physical Demands: Ability to lift 60 lbs, sit in office for long hours, hike, stand all day, bend, squat, and other manual labor tasks. Work Environment: Work will be done indoors and outdoors. Training: All program employees will be given opportunities for improvement through appropriate training.
