Food Service Manager
North Star Bible School, Camp, and Retreat Center is located in the beautiful Talkeetna Mountains of Willow, Alaska. We are right on the edge of some incredible Alaskan wilderness, while only being 1 hour from the Mat-Su valley and 2 hours from Anchorage. Regular hobbies include backcountry skiing, dog mushing, hiking, snowshoeing, hunting, fishing, and many others.
We operate three distinct ministries: a youth summer camp, facility rentals for retreats, and a brand-new one-year Bible School for 40 students. We are looking for a Food Service Manager who can manage all aspects of the kitchen for this ministry.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
General Duties as North Star staff:
- Maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. - Devote yourself regularly to prayer and the study of God’s word. - Be prepared to deliver short devotions as needed during staff meetings. - Do all work as unto the Lord by maintaining appropriate punctuality, working habits, and demeanor towards coworkers, staff, students, and camp clientele. - Communicate regularly and clearly with other staff members. - Conduct one-on-one and group discipleship with NSBS students as directed. - Be willing to take on other duties as assigned.
Food Service Manager:
- Plan a regular, predominantly homemade menu for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks for retreats, summer camp, and Bible School students. - Supervise and lead all aspects of food preparation, cooking, and cleanup. - Manage, train, and supervise two kitchen assistants and several volunteer kitchen helpers. - Regularly shop for menu items as needed. - Prepare a kitchen budget for regular review with the Executive Director. - Delegate duties to other kitchen staff as needed to cover days off. - Communicate menu and other pertinent items regularly to office staff in advance, and as required. - Maintain food safety certifications of self, site, and staff.

COMPENSATION: This position is funded by a combination of individual support raising and collaborative fundraising by all staff. North Star acts as a missionary clearinghouse, and all funds are processed through the organization and disbursed back to employees as W2 wages.
START DATE: This position can start as soon as January 1, but can also have a flexible start date throughout Spring of 2025.
