Executive Director

Summary:
The Executive Director is the key management leader of Black Lake Bible Camp (BLBC) and is responsible for the oversight and execution of the daily administration, programs, and strategic plan of the organization under the guidance of the Board of Directors. The Executive Director sets the spiritual tone and tempo in the administration of BLBC's purpose, objectives, and policies. Duties are carried out in accordance with the Constitution and By-laws of the corporation.

Essential Job Functions:
• Carry out the overall mission and support the values of BLBC under the guidance of the Board of Directors.
• Responsible for the recruitment, training, development, engagement, and supervision of camp staff ensuring a positive Christ-centered culture.
• Ensure proper procedures, routines, and practices for camp operations are maintained and followed.
• Ensure proper maintenance and care of camp assets.
• Act as a resource of information and strategic partner to the Board of Directors; consistently meeting with the Board of Directors to keep them informed on progress and planning.
• Oversee daily operations, finances, programs, staff & volunteers, conducting BLBC administration and business while working closely with the Board of Directors.
• Manage cash flow and budget planning; submitting annual budget recommendations to the board for consideration and approval.
• Responsible for daily oversight of all funds and maintenance of complete financial records for all such receipts in compliance with Generally Acceptable Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Ensure proper disbursement of funds allocated by the Board of Directors and maintain complete and accurate financial records of all such disbursements.
• Foster strategic partnership and engagement in the community while continually seeking out and growing promotion and development of donors including fundraising, debt retirement, grant writing, etc. to ensure financial goals are met.
• Stay up to date on the changes, trends, and progress of Christian camping through attendance at conferences, visiting camps, study of current camping literature, etc.
• Promote BLBC and its ministry throughout Pacific Northwest district churches, institutions, conferences, and other organizations/events.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, & local laws.
• Complete other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors to ensure successful and smooth operations of BLBC.

Education & Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum 5 years’ experience in nonprofit Christian ministry leadership with progressively increased responsibilities required.
• Verifiable leadership experience in Christian camping ministry preferred.

Personal Life:
The Executive Director must set a positive example by maintaining a viable growing relationship with Jesus Christ and is expected to exemplify the qualities of a Christ-like leader by being a good provider for their spouse and family, and meeting their spiritual and physical needs. (1 Timothy 3:1-7).



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Knowledge of Generally Acceptable Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Problem-solving skills with the ability to think creatively to navigate complex issues and situations.
• Ability to lead, engage, and mentor large and small teams to successfully execute assigned tasks.
• Skilled in public speaking
• Ability to prepare grant proposals and successfully raise funds for a nonprofit organization.
• Ability to continually build relationships with individuals and organizations of influence including funders, partner organizations and volunteers.
• Solid organizational abilities, including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation.
• Strong financial management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision making and reporting.
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Ability to successfully lead the business operations of a nonprofit Christian camp.
• Strong work ethic with a high degree of energy and the ability to energize and motivate people.
Physical Demands:
While performing the essential job function, the Executive Director is required to sit, stand and safely move long distances over camp grounds (often on uneven ground and including hills and stairs). The Executive Director is also required to communicate effectively and have the ability to see and hear potential safety hazards as they are moving about the grounds.

Work Environment:
The Executive Director will work in an office as well as outdoors in the heat and cold with duties that include sitting at a desk or in meetings for long periods of time, manual and finger dexterity for operation of a personal computer. Frequent weekend and evening work is required with occasional overnight travel. The noise level in the work environment may range from very quiet to very loud.

Compensation:
This position is exempt from overtime with the base salary being determined based on experience and qualifications. It is expected that the Executive Director be present and available when needed to ensure business and spiritual needs are met.
