Director of Laity Lodge Family Camp

POSITION SUMMARY: The Director of Laity Lodge Family Camp (LLFC) is responsible for designing, developing, and directing all aspects of LLFC’s program, human resource, financial, marketing, and strategic operations. This position will lead LLFC in the design and delivery of Christian enrichment for families; and, effective growth and sustainability of programs.

PROGRAM MISSION: The LLFC program plays a pivotal role in developing connections throughout campers’ lives. LLFC also provides campers a “Canyon Experience” that translates into the ability to seek a richer life with Christ outside the actual experience of time spent in the Canyon. LLFC is an interdenominational Christian family camp designed to strengthen relationships within the family system by providing a relaxed, fun-filled opportunity for families to be together in an atmosphere dedicated to Christ. LLFC is part of the H. E. Butt Foundation of ministries that is an expression of the Butt family’s commitment, vision, and generosity. LLFC exists to make a difference in the world
through refreshed and renewed people.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Strategic Leadership:
o Design and implement LLFC programs that meet the needs and interests of LLFC
target populations and ensure their delivery in a safe and quality manner
o Continually analyze impact from families and staff regarding the quality, safety,
and enjoyment of the program and staff
o Work with camping program leadership to craft overall goals, with
specific ownership of financial, operational, and programmatic
objectives
? collaborate across all camping programs for effective engagement
o Provide inspiring leadership as a Player/Coach in LLFC, and develop broad
knowledge of family needs for cultivating generative camping programs
o Represent LLFC to key constituencies
o Remain current with information on the spiritual, emotional and
developmental needs of youth and families
o Participate in staff succession planning leveraging both internal and
external resources to sustain teams and organizational needs

• Operational Management and Growth:
o In partnership with Staff Coordinator determine, identify, and develop
specific plans to recruit staff
? In partnership with Staff Coordinator and LLFC team hire, train,
supervise, and evaluate seasonal and year-round staff
? Participate in professional and personal development, goals, ambitions
and motivations to align with individual and organizational
expectations and/or needs
o Ensure optimal delivery of program and services to families at LLFC
o Collaborate with Human Resources to implement organizational
effectiveness through change management, performance management,
training, development and total recognition and rewards
o Collaborate with Communications department to design and develop
marketing and communications that actively promote LLFC’s year-round
programs

• Financial Management:
o Develop annual budgets for LLFC and provide financial management to meet
objectives
o Develop overall revenue targets against specified metrics

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Undergraduate degree required with an advanced degree in theology and/or
education/ministry training a plus.
• At least 4 years of management experience overseeing camping programs/para-church
ministry/youth and family church programs

COMPETENCIES-Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach a college-level staff, to manage and develop high-performance teams, and to collaboratively develop and implement program strategies within a theological and hospitality framework
• Excellent quantitative knowledge and problem-solving skills in order to analyze, assess, and manage financial, administrative, programmatic, and operational execution
• Strong spiritual life and devotion to Christ as well as experience sharing personal
testimony in a variety of venues
• Ability to cultivate healthy relationships, to maintain strong family ties, and to offer
gracious hospitality to a wide demographic that includes people of diverse ethnicity,
religious affiliation, age, and lifestyles
• Confident, mature listener with excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills
• Highly accountable and results-driven with the ability to set and use goals
• Experienced strategist and innovator who will contribute to the leadership,
management, and growth of LLFC

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to be physically active for 8+ hours at a time, with appropriate breaks
• The employee must be able to lift and move items up to 25 pounds.
• This position is active and requires standing, walking, and bending.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• Outside on uneven terrain and in varying weather and environmental conditions
• Professional office environment and outdoor camping environment
• Must work varying schedules based on camping program needs, including some
weekends
