Operations Manager & Maintenance Assistant

Role:
The primary purpose of the Operations Manager & Maintenance Assistant is to coordinate and execute the strategic use of resources, time, people and finances to deliver excellence, consistency and care to our guests and programs – in coordination with the Guest Services Manager and Day Camp Director. This position includes coordinating and executing routine maintenance and repairs for various buildings, equipment, and grounds -- in cooperation with the Facilities Director. The role will streamline the process from contract/programming commitments to event-day implementation, and will supervise the staff and volunteers responsible toward accomplishing these goals and deadlines.

The candidate will be someone with a vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ who demonstrates His love to those around them, and will work for His glory in a professional manner to serve those who come onto the Summit Grove grounds.

Responsibilities:

OPERATIONS: (50-70% of time summers, 30-40% of time rest of year)

• Ensure the preparation of grounds, facilities and equipment to accommodate upcoming guests, camps, and retreat group needs. This may include activities such as preparing A/V equipment, rear-ranging floor plans, taking out trash, blowing leaves and weed whacking, repairs and replacements, assessing inventory, resetting kitchen space, moving heavy objects, and coordinating with other staff/volunteers to ensure a space is ready for guests.
• Recruit, hire and train volunteers as necessary.

• Operate as weekend host on a rotation basis – ensuring that guests and group leaders have an excel-lent experience, have open lines of communication, understand their arrival/departure expectations and procedures, and are adhering to the terms of their contractual agreement.

• Establish and coordinate schedules when multiple guests and groups are using facilities simultane-ously -- preparing the facility, staffing and resources needed for them before, during and after their stays.

• Establish schedules of events and locations between guests and groups in cooperation with the Summit Grove programming and Day Camps.

• Coordinate with all other camp functions including Day Camp Director with daily Day Camp logistics, needed supplies, equipment setup, support staff training, and clean up/reset as needed.

• Organize volunteer groups and activities, including volunteer work days, volunteer projects, and vol-unteer groups that help throughout the year, and other special events.

• Assist in operational functions such as kitchen help, housekeeping, running guest activities, or maintenance if needed.

• Observe day-to-day functions of the office and camp – such as finding solutions or improvements to IT needs, AV system improvements, event planning and preparation of Summit Grove programming, implementing safety plans, emergency procedures, and its related staff training.

• Identify and initiate solutions to growth opportunities in daily operational efficiency, processes, and systems. Maintain an opportunistic and proactive mindset toward greater cost-effectiveness, in-creased efficiency, and creative solutions in operations.

MAINTENANCE: (30-50% of time summers, 60-70% of time rest of year)
The following responsibilities are to be done in coordination and collaboration with the Facilities Director:
• Implement the repair or replacement of damaged or broken equipment, facilities, and amenities.

• Complete maintenance work orders to keep the lodging spaces, meeting rooms, kitchens, restrooms, and facilities exceptional for positive guest experiences.

• Identify and implement routine maintenance opportunities for various functions of the camp – HVAC, plumbing, electrical, grounds, equipment, etc.

• Collaborate closely with Facilities Director to complete priority maintenance projects, facilities improvement projects, and meet deadlines within budget.

• Collaborate in ongoing maintenance of grounds and equipment -- including lawn and garden upkeep, beautification, cleaning, trash, cleanup after guests, etc.

• Other duties may be added, removed, or changed depending on person’s skills, abilities, and desires, along with consideration given to current team dynamics, streamlined efficiency and cost-effectiveness, and improved processes.

Physical Demands:
Able to lift up to 50-pounds and help move bulky or large items as needed. The physical effort typically ap-plied in this job includes: Lifting, Carrying, Reaching, Driving, Pulling, Pushing, Stooping, Standing, Bending, Climbing, Walking, Speaking, and Listening.

Reports to: Executive Director (for Operations), Facilities Director (for Maintenance)

Time: Full-Time, Year-Round.

Compensation: Salary + Housing, Salary based on experience.

Benefits: Access to food from camp meals as available, 3 weeks’ paid vacation annually, 6 paid holidays, Worker’s Compensation Insurance (personal health insurance is not provided.
