Building and Grounds Assistant
Job Summary We are seeking a hardworking and versatile individual to join our team at The Woods. This role requires expertise in landscaping large natural areas (forest, fields, beachfront, and building surroundings), assisting with general maintenance and construction projects, and performing mechanical repairs on equipment and vehicles. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, enjoys working outdoors, and has a strong mechanical aptitude. This role ensures the upkeep, functionality, and aesthetic quality of the land, buildings, and equipment to maintain a beautiful but distraction free environment so that our guests can have an extraordinary experience at The Woods.
Key Responsibilities Landscaping & Grounds Maintenance: • Manage and maintain natural landscapes, including forests, fields, and beachfront areas, by operating and maintaining landscaping equipment (chainsaws, weed whackers, pull-behind mowers, zero-turns, skid steers, tractors, etc).
Maintenance & Construction Assistance: • Assist with repairs and upkeep of buildings, cabins, and outdoor structures. • Support carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and general maintenance projects as needed. • Maintain walkways, driveways, and roads, including grading the roads with a tractor and box grader and including snow removal in winter.
Mechanic & Equipment Maintenance: • Inspect, diagnose, and repair small engines, tractors, ATVs, boats, and other machinery. • Perform routine maintenance on tools, equipment, and vehicles. • Keep an organized workspace and inventory of necessary repair parts. • Operate heavy equipment when needed.
Qualifications & Requirements • Experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, or land management. • General knowledge of construction, maintenance, and repair work. • Mechanical skills with experience repairing small engines, vehicles, and equipment. • Ability to safely operate power tools, chainsaws, and heavy machinery. • Comfortable working in various weather conditions and on uneven terrain. • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team. • Valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications (if applicable) • Experience in forestry management or conservation. • Welding, fabrication, or advanced mechanical skills. • Ability to operate heavy equipment and vehicles such as skid steers, tractors, and zero turn riding lawn mowers.
Work Environment & Physical Demands (if applicable) • On-site • Outdoors most of the day/all weather conditions. • Standing and walking all day • Sitting for long hours while operating vehicles
