Summer Adventure Camp Teacher

Are you ready for an exciting, fun-filled summer, where you get to impact the lives of children? Come join our summer camp team at Kids Junction! We are looking for dedicated, fun-loving, energetic staff to work for our Summer Adventure Camp (SAC) and Summer Adventure Camp Senior (SAC Sr). Camp is just around the corner; it runs June 12th through August 29th this year.

About the Job: Our SAC & SAC Sr positions are responsible for the safety and engagement of our 170 summer camp children. It also carries out the mission of Kids Junction by partnering with parents, as well as promoting the overall vision through executing all planned activities for the camp program(s).

Key Responsibilities:

-Ensure children are always accounted for and safe while in your presence both on premises and off premises; this may include and is not limited to public places including pools, classrooms, Princeton Club facilities, parking lots, in transportation vehicles, etc.
-Demonstrate a genuine interest in each child; build positive relationships with children throughout camp
-Understand, follow, and implement all state licensing regulations and Kids Junction procedures and/or protocol
-Follow and implement the schedule(s) and planned activities provided by the program director, including, but not limited to serving lunches and snacks
-Stimulate and foster a positive environment for the children at camp; keep children engaged and excited for activities, especially during transition times
-Communicate with parents/guardians about important topics that may arise in a timely manner

Required Skills and Competencies:

-High school diploma or equivalent
-Be age 18 years or older
-Experience working with school-age children, especially in a camp setting
-Ability to foster teamwork and thrive in a collaborative environment
-Skilled in remaining composed and effective in challenging situations

Preferred Skills and Competencies:

-Associate's degree or higher in education, early childhood, or recreation management
-3-5 years' experience working in a camp setting
-Experience working in a licensed childcare/camp facility

Working Conditions:

-Ability to lift 15 pounds or more
-Exposure to hot and cold external temperatures; may also be exposed to external elements
-May be exposed to loud noise levels for extended periods
-Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time

Terms of Employment:

-Monday-Friday; Full-Time Seasonal, non-exempt
-$17.00-$24.00 per hour
-Camp runs June 12th-August 29th
-Mandatory all staff meeting May 31st

It is a great opportunity for kids to make new friendships, build self-esteem, and develop character and leadership qualities, all while having lots of fun along the way. SAC Sr. doesn't like to hold still or stay in one place! Every day, we meet at our big tent outside the Princeton Club West, load our bus, and head out on an adventure! Our program rotates through Camp Carlson and state parks each week for staff-led programming, such as outdoor education, crafts, sports, games. Twice a week we leave the area to explore other locations for more challenging or thrilling field trips. We are conveniently located inside the Princeton Club on Madison's west side. Our location gives prime access to bus lines, the belt line, and bike trails. Our beltline access connects most nearby neighborhoods and towns in 10-15 minutes! Madison consistently ranks among the best in the nation for almost everything including fantastic bike trails, safe neighborhoods, great healthcare, excellent education, amazing music venues and diverse restaurants.
