Overnight Camp Counselor (Female)
Join our vibrant and faith-filled team at Camp Piankatank, a Christian summer camp located along the beautiful Piankatank River in Virginia. As a Camp Counselor, you will guide campers through a memorable summer experience filled with fun activities, spiritual growth, and lasting friendships. Compensation: $300/week with a 9-week seasonal contract; optional 2-week extension at the end of the summer. We also provide room and board for the contract dates, plus paid training to receive certifications in First Aid, CPR/AED, lifeguarding through the American Red Cross, and our high ropes course.
General Responsibility: Oversee the safety and well-being of campers (ages 6-17) and facilitate camp activities under the supervision of Leadership Staff.
Key Responsibilities: • Spiritual Leadership: Lead daily Bible studies, devotional times, and prayer sessions with campers, helping them deepen their relationship with Christ. • Activity Supervision: Guide and participate in a variety of outdoor activities such as swimming, hiking, arts and crafts, team-building exercises, and more. • Camper Safety: Ensure the safety and well-being of all campers by adhering to camp safety guidelines, supervising activities, and responding to emergencies as necessary. • Mentorship: Build meaningful, trusting relationships with campers, serving as a positive role model and offering emotional and spiritual support throughout their camp experience. • Team Collaboration: Work closely with fellow counselors and camp staff to create a positive, fun, and welcoming atmosphere for all campers. • Conflict Resolution: Help resolve conflicts among campers with grace and patience, always fostering a spirit of unity and respect. • Camp Maintenance: Assist with basic camp tasks such as setting up activities, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring camp facilities are in good condition.
Qualifications: • Must be at least 18 years old. • Active Christian faith with a commitment to modeling and sharing your faith with others. • Previous experience working with children or youth, preferably in a camp or ministry setting. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with both children and fellow staff. • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and adapt to a variety of tasks and responsibilities. Must be able to handle long and sometimes stressful days. • CPR/First Aid certification is preferred but not required (can be obtained prior to camp). • A love for the outdoors and an enthusiasm for leading kids in fun, faith-filled activities.
