Maintenance Director

Adventurous Christians is a rustic canoe tripping and retreat center in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness of Minnesota. We use wilderness and community to help people take the Next Step in their Christian faith. The Maintenance Director is responsible to provide leadership, coordination, and labor for the Facilities of Adventurous Christians. AC’s long history of rustic minimalism, intentional programming, being good stewards, and small community creates space for learning and faith formation. We hope for someone to bring skills and a work ethic that complement the setting and community. The job will include providing leadership and organization for maintaining and repairing AC’s buildings, vehicles, grounds, tools, water systems, and other miscellaneous items all year round. The Maintenance Director will be responsible for executing or contracting the tasks as needed. All staff members participate in Maintenance, Program, and Hospitality services as needed. The Maintenance Director will also be responsible for training staff for tasks that may be assigned, i.e. chainsaws, mowers, snowblowers, etc. AC serves a variety of ages and Christian denominations.

This position requires an active and growing faith in Jesus Christ, demonstrated personal integrity, team leadership, consistent work ethic, attention to detail, follow through, healthy interpersonal communication skills, and a service-oriented attitude. Individuals must possess a desire to live and work in a remote wilderness setting with rustic housing (i.e. outhouses, communal kitchen, wood heated cabin).
